Since the founding of this small firm in 1997, W. A. Wilson Consulting Services has served clients of all types across the United States. Our portfolio highlights examples of the broad range of projects that we've completed.
Mr. Wallace A. Wilson is the owner and founder of W. A. Wilson Consulting Services. Before starting his own company, Mr. Wilson was the Chief of Flood Hazard Management with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, from which he retired after 24 years of service. From 1985 to 1997, he was Chair of the Association of State Floodplain Managers’ (ASFPM) Floodproofing Committee. He was also the Association’s Region V Director for four years and currently serves as Vice-President of the ASFPM Foundation.
Mr. Wilson is a past President of the Lansing-Jackson Branch and the Michigan Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers. He is a licensed professional engineer in Michigan and is recognized as a Certified Floodplain Manager by the Association of State Floodplain Managers. He possesses a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from California State Polytechnic University and Colorado State University, respectively.
During his career Mr. Wilson worked on several committee assignments with ASFPM, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and the Corps of Engineers, critically reviewing many of their more recent publications related to floodproofing and retrofitting. He has conducted floodproofing/retrofitting seminars, workshops and floodproofing projects for private property owners and governmental representative in Nevada, Oregon, Arkansas, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Indiana, North Carolina, Ohio, West Virginia and Michigan. Mr. Wilson has taught several sessions of FEMA’s five-day “Retrofitting Floodprone Residential Buildings” course at the Emergency Management Institute in Emittsburg, Maryland.
